International Volunteer – Training Programme Designer & Capacity Building Advisor

Duration: 4-6 Months (Part-Time or Full-Time)

Location: Flexible: Remote or On-site in Gulu, Uganda

Role Overview

This is a strategic voluntary position focused on standardizing VISO's technical knowledge into professional, measurable, and repeatable training products to enhance the capacity of local partners across the Great Lakes Region.

Key Deliverables

  • Design and finalize comprehensive, modular, and competency-based curricula for VISO’s 5-7 core learning modules (e.g., DDR Fundamentals, RBM).
  • Develop complete, high-quality professional training materials, including Trainer’s Manuals and Participant Workbooks.
  • Create a Training of Trainers (ToT) Framework for local staff.
  • Design a practical Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) tool (e.g., based on the Kirkpatrick model) to measure training effectiveness.

Essential Qualifications

  • Advanced Degree (Master's preferred) in Education, Instructional Design, or International Development.
  • Minimum 7 years of professional experience in curriculum design, training development, or technical advisory, preferably within the NGO sector.
  • Expertise in Instructional Design (ID) and proven application of adult learning methodologies.

Compensation & Logistics Note

This is a Voluntary Position. Logistics (travel, visa, accommodation, and a modest stipend) are dependent on successful third-party sponsorship secured by VISO.

Volunteer Opportunity: Youth Project Development & Resource Mobilization Lead

Role Overview

We were looking for a dynamic Youth Project Development & Resource Mobilization Lead to support our efforts in designing impactful projects, identifying funding opportunities, and building strong donor relationships. This was a unique opportunity for a young leader to gain hands-on experience in the nonprofit sector while contributing to meaningful change.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the development of project proposals targeting youth empowerment and child protection.
  • Conduct donor mapping and identify potential funding sources aligned with VISO’s mission.
  • Assist in writing grant applications and concept notes for local and international donors.
  • Collaborate with the team to design innovative, community-driven youth programs.
  • Support the development of fundraising strategies and partnerships.
  • Participate in capacity-building and training opportunities offered by VISO.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Aged 18–35, passionate about youth development and social justice.
  • Experience in proposal writing, donor research, or project development (volunteer or professional).
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Self-driven, organized, and able to work independently or in a small team.
  • Familiarity with child protection, youth engagement, or community development is a plus.
  • Based in Uganda or with a strong interest in the region.
