We have more than 17 years of working in one of the most complex humanitarian emergencies in northern Uganda. We focus our strategy on community participation for local solutions.​ we continue to grow partnerships with both state and non-state actors to advance VISO's Mission  and continued service delivery. 

we have been accredited for stimulating major socio-economic changes while promoting sustainable use of resources, improving education and skills training, protection of vulnerable communities and environments. 

Community adaptation to climate change. 

We explore the different ways to advance climate change governance, strengthen innovation and uptake of clean energy technologies in situations of emergency and recovery together with climate change and clean energy actors.  Please donate to our cause to Improve access to data driven information on climate variability for local producers/farmers. 

Climate Change Adaptation:

United Nation's Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number 13 aims at taking appropriate actions to combat climate change and its impacts.

Climate change and variability affects every facet of a country’s economy, its socio-economic wellbeing and a major driver for conflicts related to limited.

How prepared are African states to face the negative impacts imparted by climate change and variability?

We have already witnessed Climate changes  through droughts, floods, varying temperatures and rainfalls and sea level rise.Climate change is a complex problem; the definition of the problem being very difficult and its solution is one that has everyone chasing for an answer. VISO applies proactive and holistic approaches to combat the challenges presented by these changes.

We develop climate change information management system and early warning systems to promote policy advocacy, implementation to improve socio-economic wellbeing of communities in the region.

DDR/CVE TRAINING.

This is organised in close collaboration with academic universities, Global experts and key partners on the subject.​

we have three schedules each year for participants to choose from. Targets mid-level practitioners who are also the key personnel in planning and implementing  or regional conflict mitigation programmes. The training is suitable for   participants from Non-governmental organisations, United Nations staff, Civil society Organisations, Government ministry officials, military officers .

Past Projects

Youth Empowerment Programme ( May 2017 - June 2021)

Project aims at improving employability and social economic livelihood of youth between 12 - 20 years in Northern Uganda. Area of focus is on personal development, Education and training, Economic empowerment and Adolescent Sexual and reproductive health. 


Social project for Engagement and Action for community Empowerment (SPEACE) - (2020 - 2021).

Project aims at community violence prevention through social justice approaches with the power of the media. Areas of focus include capacity strengthening , civic engagement, harnessing art and cultural activities for peaceful co-existence.


Climate Action project.

The goal of this project is to promote access to information, sustainable practices, advocacy and innovations to promote nature and biodiversity. 


Speed Schools Project ( 2017 -2019)

Aim of the project is to increase access to quality  education including infrastructural development. The project support school retention, promote livelihood and sustainable education in the post conflict communities in northern Uganda. 


Youth Initiative for empowerment and Livelihood (YIEL) - ( 2013 -2014)

Project aimed at  supporting socio-economic livelihood among recovering communities in northern Uganda. Focus included skills development, Sexual and reproductive health, agricultural development.


Animal Problem project (promoting wildlife -human population relationship) - (2011 -2014). 

The project aims at promoting community participation monitoring the management of oil and gas resources in the Northern Albertine region.  


Conservation of nature including extractives - (2014).
