Supporting Performance-Based Grants for sub-national Authorities in Uganda
We are dedicated to empowering local authorities in Uganda through performance-based grants. These grants aim to enhance local governance, improve service delivery, and foster sustainable development by rewarding excellence and innovation in municipal management.
Objectives
Enhance Governance: Strengthening local government structures to ensure transparency, accountability, and efficiency.
Improve Service Delivery: Ensuring that essential services such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure are effectively provided to communities.
Promote Sustainable Development: Encouraging environmentally friendly and economically viable practices that benefit future generations.
How It Works
Assessment and Eligibility:
Local authorities are assessed based on key performance indicators (KPIs) including financial management, service delivery, community engagement, and environmental sustainability. Authorities meeting the minimum criteria are invited to apply for the performance-based grants.
Application Process:
Interested local authorities submit detailed proposals outlining their plans for utilizing the grants. Proposals are evaluated based on their potential impact, feasibility, and alignment with development goals.
Grant Allocation:
Successful applicants receive grants based on their performance and the strength of their proposals. Grants are disbursed in stages, contingent upon meeting pre-defined milestones.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
Continuous monitoring ensures that the funds are used effectively and that the projects are on track. Regular evaluations help measure the impact and provide feedback for future improvements.
